Shaun and I went to the Oregon coast, at Haceta Beach. We had a picnic and played in the waves and stuff. He was really obsessed with sea shells, which was kinda weird I thought, but I figured it must be a non-coastal (ie Colorado) thing.
Finally, he says: "Why don't you go look that way for shells, and I'll go this way?" I thought that was sad--why didn't he want to spend a romantic day with ME?--but was like, "Whatever, honey" and off we we
A few minutes later he called me over to see a "really cool shell" and he was holding a mussel shell that opens and closes. So I came over, and frankly, was not all that impressed with it. Then he said, "The inside is really cool, look," and he got down on one knee and opened it, and there was a beautiful sparkley ring. He said, "Will you marry me?" I think I stopped breathing for a nanosecond, and then became insanely giddy and said yes, of course. It was a splendid day.
So August 18, 2007, I am getting married to Shaun Martin Nelson in the Portland Oregon Temple.
Shaun and I went to our friends Glo and Spencer's wedding reception yesterday. As Glo is part-Tongan, it was a really fun reception, different from most Utah receptions, with lots of good food and fun performances.
It's so weird to have the mindset "That's me in 3 months!" Minus all the cool Tongan culture, because Shaun and I don't have cool culture. Except for Mingus Dingus. Oh man. Crazy, crazy, fun stuff.
